Homeowners are saving big on the cost of their systems with local and utility solar rebates, incentives and tax credits.

AUSTIN ENERGY

Homeowners in the Austin Energy service territory can receive up to $2,500 dollars worth of rebates toward the cost of installing solar panels on a residence. A rebate is available for residential customers in Austin who install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on their homes.

Under Austin Energy’s program residential customers are billed for their whole house energy consumption at standard residential rates and then credited at the current Value of Solar Rate ($0.097 per kilowatt-hour), with monthly net excess generation rolled over to the next month, indefinitely. GUADALUPE VALLEY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE

Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative offers a rebate of $0.75 per watt installed, up to $3,000 dollars off any residential solar PV system.

AEP TEXAS

A single incentive of $0.70/watt-DC is offered for residential solar energy system installations. Maximum system size is 10 kW or $7,000 rebate.

CPS ENERGY (SAN ANTONIO)

As of December 2018, CPS Energy has allocated $15 million for rebates on residential solar systems. The first $9 million will pay a flat rebate of $2,500 per project, plus $500 for locally-produced panels. The next $5 million will pay a flat rebate of $1,500 per project, plus $500 for locally-produced panels. For more information, click here.

ONCOR (DFW TO N AUSTIN)

Oncor offers a rebate of $0.54 per watt installed, up to $5,400 dollars off any residential solar PV system. Click to learn more about the ONCOR Solar Rebate Program.

SUNSET VALLEY
The City of Sunset Valley will pay you a bonus rebate to the Austin Energy Rebate: $1,000 per kilowatt of solar installed, up to a maximum of 3 kilowatts or 3 kW. In order to be eligible for the rebate offered by the City of Sunset Valley, you must first apply and be approved for the Austin Energy rebate so the rebates piggyback on each other.
SAN MARCOS

The City of San Marcos offers a residential rebate of $1,000 per kilowatt of solar installed, up to a maximum of $2,500. Commercial customers are eligible for the same solar rebate, but up to a maximum of $5,000. Pre-approval is required in order to qualify for the solar panel rebate, and the program is open to existing San Marcos Electric Utility (SMEU) customers with an account in good standing.
