Alba Energy: Texas Heatwave Challenges Grid With Record Power Demand

Power forecasts from ERCOT are indicating Texas could see historic high demand and even higher prices for electricity this summer thanks to a state-wide heat wave. Electricity providers like ONCOR sent our emergency conservation requests asking customers to use less electricity from air conditioning units and clothers dryers in order to prevent brown-outs. Many electric utilities across Texas offer solar rebates & incentives to encourage customers to produce their own electricity with solar panels.

Community Impact Newspaper: Solar Farm Helps Georgetown Texas Go Green

Georgetown officials, including Mayor Dale Ross and City Manager David Morgan, joined a ribbon-cutting ceremony in early July for the 1,250-acre Buckthorn solar plant in Pecos County in West Texas. The plant began supplying solar-generated power to Georgetown in July. An agreement between Georgetown and NRG Energy Inc. will supply the city with solar power through 2041, according to the city.

Midland Reporter: $400M Solar Farm To Be Built In West Texas

Texas will soon have an even bigger largest solar power plant in the state. A new project just received the green-light from local permitting parties. The Phoebe solar farm will be located in Winkler County in West Texas near the New Mexico border with a total size of 315 MW-DC. Larger projects may be coming too, as rumors about 500 MW developments have been heard.
