Solar panels help Sunset Valley business slash $1,000 off monthly power bill!

I’m Juliana Ross and I’m the Director of Events at Brodie Homestead. We are a wedding venue in South Austin (located off Brodie Ln in Sunset Valley).

Our building is an urban barn that was rebuilt in the 1940s. We restored the property, renovated it, modernized it, and opened as an event space in 2014. Since then we’ve been doing hundreds of weddings and events, we do about 120 total events each year.

Our system was installed by Alba Energy, its 90 panels on the roof facing directly south. They make up a 26.2 kW system.

Before we got solar panels our electric bills were about $1,200 each month. And since going solar our bills have been between $90 and $180 each month. So they’ve gone down dramatically!

The install was super easy with Alba Energy. It took about 3 days and they worked with our events schedule including a busy schedule with multiple holiday events. They were able to get it done and the end product is really beautiful.

The appearance was super important to us because our property gets photographed every weekend, but the solar roof looks seamless, like it was always here.

It was really important to use to use green energy at our weddings since they take up a ton of power, so it makes us feel great that we’re using solar.
