Completed in July 2015, this 1.2 megawatt solar installation spans across a whopping 105,000 square feet! It’s no surprise that H-E-B is short for Here-Everything’s-Better!

“This solar panel installation is a perfect example of how H-E-B is committed to implementing innovative solutions, not just in new buildings but in existing structures as well. The Weslaco Retail Support Center provides food and products to 42 stores throughout the Rio Grande Valley, and the energy and CO2 emissions reductions will benefit the entire region,” said George Presses, H-E-B Vice President of Fuel and Energy, in a company press release.

The solar energy system will supply 45 to 55 percent of the center’s electricity needs, or enough energy to power 3,000 homes for one year!
