About The 2018 AEP Solar Rebate Program

Texas residents in the AEP service territory can receive an incentive worth up to $7,000 dollars to install a qualifying solar energy system on a home, and non-residential customers are eligible for an incentive up to $63,750 dollars! Electricity customers who receive electric delivery service from AEP Texas Central Company (AEP TCC) and AEP Texas North Company (AEP TNC) are eligible to participate in this solar rebate program. The color coded map below shows the AEP TCC and AEP TNC service areas.

AEP’s territory covers northern and southern parts of Texas. The map below shows locations within the AEP service area eligible for the solar rebate:

$7,000 AEP Texas Solar Rebate For Residential Customers

A single incentive of $0.70/watt-DC is offered for residential solar energy system installations. Maximum system size is 10 kW or $7,000 rebate.

$63,750 AEP Texas Solar Rebate For Non-Residential Customers

Tiered Incentives:

• $0.80/watt for installed system sizes 0-25 kW
• $0.25/watt for systems from 25-200 kW

Solar Energy Production From A South Texas Solar Panel Installation

Solar panels in Texas produce between 1,200 to 1,600 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year per kilowatt dc (kWdc) installed, depending on the tilt, orientation and shading of the solar panels and the type of inverter installed.

This means that: ·

• a 1 kW system can produce from 1,200 to 1,600 kWh per year
• a 3 kW system can produce from 3,600 to 4,800 kWh per year
• a 5 kW system can produce from 6,000 to 8,000 kWh per year
• a 10 kW system can produce from 12,000 to 16,000 kWh per year

What’s The Catch On This AEP Texas Solar Rebate?

Incentive funding is offered to eligible customers with complete applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

At the time of writing, the funds for residential programs have been total reserved for 2018 installations.

However, there is a chance that you can get on a wait-list to receive the residential solar rebate for next year (2019). For non-residential customers, rebates are still available in both AEP Texas Central and AEP Texas North service areas.
